A few days ago I received the best compliment I ever recieved from a gentleman I did not know.

Not because of the compliment, but why I got it.

To begin with... he was doing some research on a business opportunity I was promoting. "SMART MOVE". He emailed me with some questions. He was so impressed that someone actually took the time to answer his questions, that he signed up with the program.

I called him back and assured him that he made a wise decision. We talked for about a half an hour. Small talk about our back grounds, hobbies, likes and dislikes, family, and then business.
After our conversation I was convinced he would do well with opportunity.

Not only that, I think we became friends. We hit it off !.

Yesterday we talked again. He had some questions about advertising and writing ad copy.
I took the time and wrote an ad for him. He received good response from my ad and was excited. He than proceeded to tell me the reason he signed up with the program.

It was not the program. It was me. I was the only one that helped him and answered his question. I was floored with his response.

What's The Point Chris ?

The point I am trying to make here is this. I don't care what you are promoting. You could have the best income opportunity in the world. The best compensation plan, the best training, etc...
It doesn't matter. People join people.

I believe if you give without want, you will be rewarded. Why do 98 % of people fail with there home business ? The answer is simple. People don't take the time to follow up with their prospects and answer their questions.

Maybe they don't know the answers ? Well... you better take the time and find the answers and always follow up !.

A Lesson Learned

Man... Did I Screw Up Big time !

Recently, I decided to take a couple of days off and head up to my cabin. I packed up my wife and dog; grabbed my fishing pole and headed up north to Sage Lake, where we have a cabin on a island. It is located in Ogemaw county near Hale, Michigan. We love it!

In my haste to get on the road, I forgot to change my vacation setting’s on my email accounts. I also forgot my wireless card for my laptop. “ I am on a island mind you.”
I am always available for my prospects and my team members even when I am gone for a few days. UNTIL NOW.

Here it is Friday morning it's raining, cold, I have nothing to do and I forgot my wireless card for my computer. What a dumb a_ _ .

Not only that… I just started a huge campaign for my business and I have no way to follow up with my prospects. When I get home Sunday afternoon my email inbox will be out of control. It will take me a couple days just to catch up. Thinking about the lost revenue from my mistake has got me pissed big time.

The point I am trying to make here. I am in business. I treat my business like a business.
My mistake will cost me. ALWAYS leave a way for your team or prospects a way to get a hold of you. No matter what. People have questions and need support.

The only saving grace I have is my cell phone number which I leave on my signature file.

I hope you learned a lesson from my mistake. Always, and I mean always, leave a way for people to get a hold of you. Be disciplined enough to change you email settings before you go on vacation.

As I was saying yesterday... If you want to be successful working from home and you work a full time job, you need to be organized. Pick one advertising source and master it. It can be anything you like. But make sure you do like the source that you choose. Follow me ?

There are so many advertising sources on the net, and it can be confusing.

1. Solo Ads
2. ezine advertising. (an ezine is short for online magazine)
3. Free classified ads & paid.
4. Article marketing
5. Video Marketing. "I suck at video".
6. Facebook, myspace, twitter. "these sites are very time consuming".
7. Blogs. "one of my favorites that I just started doing".
8. Safe lists
9. Pay Per Click " Google, Yahoo, Msn...
10. squidoo lense's
11. Hub Pages

The list goes on and on. Pick one first and become a master of that source.

My favorite is pay per click. Did you know PPC is the most effective form of advertising in the entire world ?. It also can be a pain in the A--. Especially if you get the Google slap. There is a long learning curve using this method. It takes time and patience. Perry Marshall has an awesome book on PPC. It is called the definitive guide to google adwords. You can get a copy here. It is cheap only 49.00 bucks.

My favorie course on PPC is from Mike Dillard and Jim Yagi. It is called Pay Per Click Domination. It is a video course that walks you through the entire proccess. From keyword research to setting up landing pages. It is pricey however. Something like 500.00. BUT...there is a money back guarantee. You can check it out here.

Anyway... Master the advertising source of YOUR choice, than move on. Never have more than 5 advertising sources in your tool box. You will be all over the place and never get anything done.

And rember stick to a schedual and stay with it. Working part time from home can be fun and rewarding if you do it right.

I Have A full Time Job, And I Need Extra Money. Can I Really Make Money From Home ?

Let Me Tell Ya, You Can, But You Need To Be Organized.

Not everyone is cut out to be an entrepreneur. Some people are just not meant to be their own boss. Nothing wrong with that.

I know a lot of people who are happy and content working that 9 to 5 job. I also have a full time job. I really cant say "JOB", I have a career.

I love my career, would not give it up if my life depended on it. Same position with the same company for 28 years. I am the GM for Continental Home Centers Inc.

Let's face it. The economy is in terrible shape, and social security will not be around much longer. If you think the government will take of you, THINK AGAIN.

Did you actually take the time to think about that ?

Did you know millions of people are turning to the internet and the "WORK FROM Home" business model ?. When I say millions, the last I checked it was something crazy like 80 million people a day. "CRAZY NUMBERS".

I work from home "PART TIME". When I say part time I mean about 20 hours per week. I work more in the winters, I hate the cold. And I love Michigan. Some of the best golf in the world is located in my back door.

OK Chris stop rambling. Sorry:).

If you want to have success working from home, you need to be organized. You need to have an action plan that you follow every day. Many people, "myself included sometime", suffer from information overload. To much info, not enough time in the day.

Remember you also have places to go, things to do, and people to see. You have a life right?. Take that into consideration. I don't care what program you join, what products or services you promote, YOU WILL FAIL IF YOU DON'T HAVE A PLAN!

Most importantly, choose a mentor or coach you can work with. Someone you can trust and will will guide you in the right direction. There is a lot of garbage out there so be careful on what program you choose. And who you choose to work with.
